Mission, Purpose & Values
Why Seasons of Grace exists.
Aging is not a problem to be managed, but a chapter to be honored and protected.
Our mission
Seasons of Grace works to provide high-quality, community-integrated support for aging adults and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Memphis, Tennessee — including supportive living, independent life-skills development, personal development, family and caregiver support, care navigation, advocacy, and workforce pathways.
Our purpose
In Memphis neighborhoods such as South Memphis and Orange Mound, many lower-income families care for both an aging adult and a loved one with IDD at the same time, often without safe, affordable specialized options. Aging caregivers are stretched beyond their limits while needing care themselves.
Tennessee's Department of Disability and Aging also enforces a "500-Yard Rule" that keeps new IDD locations from clustering near existing providers, which makes building compliant care networks in dense urban neighborhoods difficult. Seasons of Grace exists to help bridge these gaps through partnership and community-building.
Our values
- Dignity
- Every person is treated as the author of their own life, whatever their age or ability.
- Inclusion
- People with intellectual and developmental disabilities belong in the heart of community life.
- Family
- Caregivers need care too. We support the whole household, not only one person.
- Privacy
- Personal stories and health details are shared only with care and consent.
- Partnership
- No one organization can do this alone. We build with neighbors, churches, and providers.
- Faith and grace
- Our name is a testimony. We serve everyone with humility, regardless of belief.
