Seasons of Grace is a nonprofit community-care organization serving Memphis, Tennessee. Every gift and partnership funds care for aging adults and people with IDD — placement is based on income, never ability to pay.

Seasons of GraceEnriching Lives. Honoring Journeys.
Multigenerational family walking together at golden hour

Our Story

A community emerged out of love, humility, and empowerment.

We were founded on a single conviction: aging is not a problem to be managed, but a chapter to be honored and protected — all the while fostering change by embracing those with cognitive, developmental, and intellectual disabilities.

We are enriching lives and honoring journeys!

Our Mission

Continuous residential care, life skills, and comprehensive support.

We are here to provide high quality, community integrated, continuous residential care, independent life skills training, personal development programs, and comprehensive supportive services for our Aging Adults and those members of the IDD population.

We are still each other's keepers!

Our Purpose

Bridging the systemic gaps in Memphis neighborhoods.

There is an IDD care crisis that has infiltrated many of Memphis's inner city neighborhoods like those in South Memphis and Orange Mound. Due to the lack of financial resources for safe and affordable specialized residential care facilities, lower-income families within these areas — with members of both the IDD and Aging populations — have forged unhealthy co-dependency relationships in order to survive. These aging adults and caregivers are being stretched beyond their own natural limitations trying to reassure prolonged comfort and protection for their affected loved ones, when they themselves are in need of extensive care.

In addition to the lack of financial resources, the Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) enforces a strict "500-Yard Rule," prohibiting new IDD locations from clustering near existing providers. This regulation makes scouting, vetting, and establishing compliant care-facility networks within highly urban inner-city neighborhoods difficult to create without specialized mapping software.

We here at Seasons of Grace vow to bridge those systemic gaps faced by our many suffering neighborhoods. We will create partnerships and network-ecosystems committed toward rejuvenating real community life.

It takes a village to raise, care, sustain, and honor its people!

Our Founder

La Tonya Anderson

Founder & CEO

La Tonya Anderson with residents and family members at Seasons of Grace

La Tonya Anderson, Founder & CEO of Seasons of Grace, has lived a life purposefully caring for the needs of others — even when she was unaware of it herself. Normally, biographical stories are written in ascending order, capturing each progressive building block of the subject's life. But just like our founder, this will hit differently, because she is unique in her own right.

In February 2026, LaTonya took her first aide-free step in nearly four years. She has been the epitome of a walking testimony, both literally and figuratively. While dealing with her own medical hardships — or, as she may say, celebrating her victories — Ms. Anderson answered the call for help to care for a victim of elder abuse who was also diagnosed with dementia. Many others would have been consumed with their own health problems, but not her. She saw a mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a friend who needed the kind of care only she could provide: always somewhere building new bridges, closing gaps, and ushering vulnerable citizens safely through their seasons of grace.

On December 18, 2022, the tragedy that struck Ms. Anderson's world would easily have been the detriment of some other person's very existence. We've heard it articulated in many different forums, but this familiar phrase — I woke up like this — had now found its way into her life. She awoke to discover that she was paralyzed as a result of an extremely rare condition, Cauda Equina Syndrome, of which she wasn't even aware she had. Despite what this diagnosis would overtly mean for the lives of her two young adult children, they did not hesitate to rise to the occasion. They readily put their lives on hold — not because they had to, but because they knew she was the kind of person who would move heaven and earth for them and anyone else she cared for. Between the two of them, they created a rock-solid twenty-four-hour care, therapy, and support team that proved instrumental in their mother's unforeseen recovery.

There are people in this world who just have true favor and grace covering their lives, and LaTonya is one of those people. When she was told there would not be a surgeon available to operate on her until after the new year, favor stepped right in and allowed one of the top neurosurgeons in the country to become available immediately. When the idea of ever walking again appeared nonexistent, God's favor and grace stepped in again. The name Seasons of Grace was not chosen by mere happenstance, but as a real-life testament to LaTonya's many blessed seasons of grace.

Prior to her life-changing snafu — and yes, it was minimized for a reason — Ms. Anderson had spent the better portion of the past thirty years blessing, touching, and changing lives, caring for others no matter who they were or where she encountered them. More than twenty of those years were spent learning, loving, and embracing the various stages in the lives of families as a retail and ambulatory pharmacy technician, while her latter years of service were spent honoring hard-fought journeys nearing their close as a hospice pharmacy technician. Between those two scopes of practice, LaTonya's genuinely compassionate manner afforded her unconditional acceptance into countless families.

She continues to touch lives in ways that forge life-long bonds and forever friendships, and will do the same for those individuals connected, directly or indirectly, to Seasons of Grace. She exemplifies empowerment, hard work, grace, caring, kindness, humility, love, and selflessness — but will not hesitate to let folks know, "Do not underestimate who I am and whose I am." She has a testimony to share with whomever will listen: "What God allowed to occur in my life in 2022 was not for me, but it was for others around me to see, witness, and understand how good God is, and how His grace and mercy continue to be sufficient."

Welcome to your next Season of Grace!

"Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began."

2 Timothy 1:9
